One of the most well known "Cheating " songs is Stand By Your Man by Tammy Wynette.
When the song was released Tammy received a lot of negative backlash because in the song the lady would allow her partner to cheat around and not do or say anything to stop it.
Yes, it is a song about love and what one has to endure to make the marriage last.
Forgiving the man because he is weak to the wiles of women and strays often.
Is it a song about the insecurity of the wife, unwilling or unable to ditch a cheating partner?
What would you do in such a situation?
Stand by you Man
Sometimes it's hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doing things that you don't understand
But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him, Oh be proud of him
'Cause after all he's just a man
Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

@Gusman Thank you for the song, lyrics, and questions.
For the first question, it's hard to say without having the perspective of the Man in the song.
For the second question, I don't know - this is exactly what I'm grappling with. If I were in Tammy's situation, and it was my man, my first inclination would be to somehow make the marriage work. However, if the man has little interest in doing the same then what can you really do?

@greencompass Yes. If the man is going to continue to stray, knowing how much it is hurting his partner then I would almost 100% part company.
