You gave a very nice rendition of it.

But I have to correct your facts about the song. It is from the Broadway musical "Man of La Mancha", which opened in 1965, with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. The first person to sing it was Richard Kiley who played Don Quijote in the show.

Many performers, including Andy Williams, performed it afterwards.

@Coralmist In general, I have found when I look up music using Google, the authorship information is often unreliable. The phrase "song by" often merely refers to a very popular rendition, not the original one. The "algorithm" does not handle this very well.
