[media=https://youtu.be/rF2XAjVTzyQ] "Eternal Flame" is a soft rock ballad recorded by the Bangles for their third studio album, Everything (1988). The song was co-written by band member Susanna Hoffs, who also did the lead vocals. It was released as single in Jan. 1989 and was enormously successful, reaching #1 in nine countries, and the top ten in at least 11 other countries.
Hoffs was completely naked when the song was recorded in the studio. This was after the producer told her that Olivia Newton-John recorded her vocals in the nude. It was said as a prank and wasn't true (which the producer later admitted), but Hoffs kind of liked the idea:
"I imagined it would feel like skinny dipping—vulnerable yet freeing – and I decided to try it. Nobody could see me; there was a baffle in front of me and it was dark."
The singer-songwriter fully embraced the experience and ended up "skinny dipping" her way through most of the album's tracks.
And today, Susanna Hoffs turns 66 yrs. old. Happy birthday to Ms. Hoffs.
