I wish I could play a musical instrument

I was watching someone play piano the other day and it was so beautiful. I wish I could play. I tried to learn to play the flute a long time back and got nowhere. Keyboards look even harder.

Have access to a piano? Never too late to start learning...just have to make the time to do it.

@Benjago no access

@sundazzled check your local library. Some have instrument lending. It works the same as checking out a book. I've literally checkout out an electric guitar...from the library! 🎸

@iamnikki I didn't know that, thank you
@sundazzled $19.99 on Amazon. We all have to start somewhere.

@Benjago yea, I've seen roll out keyboards for like $60. I wanted to get one but I've tried keyboard before. We had one in the house growing up. I get frustrated by the fact that I can't achieve octaves. Fingers too short.

@sundazzled you don't need a piano. If you already have a PC, then get yourself a midi controller on the cheap, you can download a free DAW (digital audio workstation) and some free piano based VSTs (virtual studio technology) which are just programs that mimic the sound of a real instrument, and get to practicing to see if you have the patience to learn. Once you figure you genuinely are up to it, invest in the real thing
@iamnikki I can still manage the octaves but my fingers lack the dexterity they once had years ago. But that's just me being out of practice...some actual exercises and over time I think I could get some of speed back.

@Benjago makes sense. I'm still trying to get back to where I was. I could run up and down the scales smoothly on my flute. Can't do it very well or quickly now🫣
