I hate rap with a passion

Flenflyys · 31-35, F
You had to be a youth in the early 2000s to get it
dubkebab · 51-55, M
@Flenflyys It certainly is if you remember when BDP,Rakim and Public Enemy released their early work.
Run DMC was played on repeat on many boomboxes when I was a yout'. As were Beastie Boys.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@dubkebab fight for your right to party just doesn’t hit the vulgarity scale like eminem though
dubkebab · 51-55, M
@Flenflyys Haha,I noticed. The first time I was taken aback by rap was the first NWA outing.
Then it was the Ghetto Boys. The vulgarity kept breaking through to new levels...I was just pointing out that many of us were keen on it-and still are.

The mainstream product pushed by the industry is largely junk but there are pockets of talent and true expression if you know where to seek it out,as in any art form.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@dubkebab This seems fair.

RAP - Not even close to music, more like 50 ally cats all screaming out of tune
NOS4R2 · 36-40
Sadly it's expression has become limited to a 'style of social class' and by doing so has caused some rappers to lie and fake who they are just to fit in.
Which is a shame.
Not that I like rap much, but some is brilliantly done. Few artists extend it beyond it's cliché phrasing.

So did 80s rock yet nobody mentions that...
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@DearAmbellina2113 I think because hair metal no longer is popular unlike rap which is in so much and is hugely popular.

Rap is Crap
