I Enjoy Music

Grew up on gospel, thanks to my folks.

Not really been that into it since.

My girl? She loves her music. All sorts of shit too. Jazz, folk, classical, gospel, blues, pop, indie. All sorts, so I'm being exposed to all sorts.

The soundtrack to her life is slowly becoming a part of mine.

And that's a good thing.

It's funny how you can catch some music... it seems to get right under your skin and stay there.

When I first started to learn Dutch, I would listen to Dutch music because the stuff I found was slower than spoken Dutch in commercials and TV shows. As my understanding has improved, I'm feeling like a lot of the songs I like are the sad ones that used to make me cry as a child... or as my friends would say "My grandma likes this music".

I don't think that they understand that much of my music tastes were shaped by my parents and I didn't have friends or older siblings to influence me along the way... so I gravitate towards what feels familiar to me, I guess.
