Do you like John Mayer?

[media=https://youtu.be/ew1q5KsjBO0]

I like her version a lot. I spend some time today trying to learn the song myself. Not that hard, but it will take a bit more practice since they are not chord shapes my fingers are used to playing. Also my fingers are sore now.
had his brother Oscar for dinner the other night

Strongly dislike John Mayer, it’s personal. Also find him to be very fake and lacking in guitar skills.

@ShadowSister hi there don’t worry I totally respect your opinion and I’ve gotta say for people that enjoy this person’s performances I’m very glad for you. Personally, I and other guitarists that I know and respect find him truly lacking in right hand technique and also he does not apply scales and technique appropriately to the material he is playing. I would expect a person working on stage with “Corporate Dead” to do a lot better. In my opinion he is soulless, sterile, his style matches his shallow personality. My personal conflict with this shallow narcissistic person goes back a long way and is the result of a dispute involving gigs, booking agents, and an aggressive approach to other musicians.

@BackyardShaman I just googled him. First off, I didn't realize quite how many celebrities he's dates. And second, I didn't realize what a drama llama he is. OMG wow. It's like he found a sale on problematic and decided to stock up. And that didn't even get to the business issues on the back end.

What do you mean about applying scales wrong? Like playing in Lydian when he should be playing in Dorian, that type of thing? I didn't even realize he played with the Dead until this week. Yeah, that makes some sense. I'll maybe pull up some videos and see if I can spot what you're talking about.

@BackyardShaman I just found this clip that made me laugh. I guess he's nothing if not a polorizing figure. People either love him or hate him.

He only ever made one song I ever liked. "Perfectly Lonely". It is such an underrated song. It is amazing to me that pretty much nobody has ever heard of it.

He's an incredible player. Someone referred to his career as "reverse selling out". Saw a few clips of him with Dead and Co. and was blown away.

@ShadowSister He started off as a pop star, then he formed a trio with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan, and he was often seen with Buddy Guy live, too. Weird to see the teenyboppers there to see him enjoying Buddy Guy, too. Now, he seems to have successfully morphed into a guitar hero. As far as I know, no one has ever done that successfully before.

@uncalled4 Now that I've been watching some of his videos, YouTube keeps recommending lots more for me. I was really impressed with this interview. I can see that being a star creates its own set of overwhelming pressures.

@ShadowSister He was getting to be a little much, dating Hollywood stars and such, but power to him. I can't say I wouldn't do the same.
