I'm sorry but country music is god awful why has it gotten so popular?

Nobody likes anything anymore. Everyone is complaining about some genre or other. If it's not hip hop, it's country, or metal (which I have to agree, metal is shit). Back in the day people would whine about house music not having a message blah blah blah. Not much you can do about it. You have your likes, others have theirs. That said, it's unneighborly to blast your music for the whole town to hear. Play it to yourself.
