I know only two of their songs. Manic Monday, and Walk Like An Egyptian.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Sidewinder Don't you know "Eternal Flame"? That one was on the radio today.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@HairbrushDiva I've heard it on the radio before, but I didn't know it was by The Bangles.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Sidewinder Who did you think it was?
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@HairbrushDiva It's been a long time since I last heard it, so I assumed it was by Brenda Carlisle.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Sidewinder You mean Belinda Carlisle?
@HairbrushDiva I also love her as much as I love Susanna Hoffs, Pat Benetar, Joan Jett, and Dolores o'Riardan (spelling?) RIP 😢
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 It's Dolores O'Riordan. I know who you mean. She used to sing with the Cranberries. This one is quite nice.

@HairbrushDiva Another one of my most beloved favorites, along with Dreams ❤️
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 "Dreams" by Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac? I hear that one a lot on the radio as well.

I personally prefer this song, which does still get played on the radio but not as often as the Stevie Nicks one.

@HairbrushDiva I love Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, but never Gabrielle.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 What's wrong with Gabrielle? I like her.
@HairbrushDiva Sorry, I meant I never heard of her
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 You've never heard of Gabrielle? She had quite a few hits in the 1990s. I'm pretty sure "Dreams" got to number one.
@HairbrushDiva I'm older Gen X, 1970, I stopped listening to most popular music around '94 or '95 or so.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 I know there was some crap in the charts in the 1990s (Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Dodgy, Green Day, Weezer, Nirvana) but there was plenty of good stuff as well, like M People, TLC, Eternal, En Vogue, the Honeyz, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton and a house full of dance music. And of course Madonna and Whitney were still going strong then.
@HairbrushDiva I do like Green Day's Basketcase Album, but didn't listen to most of the others, I do like TLC, RIP Left Eye 😢 and Whitney was Queen. I did like Madonna's early stuff, but not past Like a Prayer.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 I love Madonna, I've got all her albums on CD. I can't stand anything by Green Day, they drive me crackers.
@HairbrushDiva I personally relate to When September Ends, has to do with my Dad.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 I think that one is excruciating. The singer's voice is so bad it's unlistenable. I'm just thankful they don't play Green Day on the station I have on.
@HairbrushDiva First time I heard it I was stoned off a joint, I could not stop crying, remembering my own Dad, Puff the Magic Dragon sends me into heart wrenching sobs as well.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 Puff The Magic Dragon? That's a kid's song. I hope Green Day haven't recorded that.
@HairbrushDiva It's actually a very adult song, about the loss of innocence from childhood to adulthood.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@HairbrushDiva Yeah, that's what I meant.
