Welcome to My Life

I was just listening to some music on Autoplay and eventually, “Welcome to My Life” by Simple Plan came on. It’s been years since I heard that song, but the memories of my teenage self being so affected by the lyrics came flooding back. She was a confused, hurt girl. She was desperate for love and attention. By the grace of God, she found it in (mostly) all the right places. How I’d love the opportunity to tell that 13 / 14 year old girl that it will all be okay and encourage her to look at things from others’ perspectives.

As I reflect back on that time as well as on the lyrics, I think about the people who seem to have everything together, but their silent struggles are unknown. We all face “battles” and it can be difficult to always respond appropriately. May I be a person who leads with kindness and doesn’t allow my personal situations to affect others negatively. May I also try to be a person full of grace when I am wronged, slow to be offended and quick to forgive.

Anyway! That’s just a random thought to start out the day, don’t mind my rambling. Cheers!

Did you know there used to be a band called Simple Minds that had a song called alive and kicking? Not that that really matters, just one of my random thoughts.

That's such a powerful tune. Always brings out some emotions.

@SW-User Agreed. It takes me back to that time and for a moment, I felt sort of reunited with the teenage me.

@SW-User YES! I often end up listening to the song again when that happens because I end up feeling like I didn’t appreciate it enough the first time.
