I have no problem finding new and exiting music
(Edit) Even music that would scare people younger than me

My son is 15 years old and only listens to Classical music like Symphonies you'd hear in the old Disney movies such as Bambi! He prefers the Romantic era with composer's such as Barrok and he's only 15!!!! He doesn't like rap, he doesn't like pop he doesn't like much except piano pieces! When he was a 7 month old baby I have a youtube video of him playing the piano for the first time on a strangers lap and it's soooo cute cause he's holding the guys hand and then hammering on the piano! He was only 7 months old! He was born to play! Then since he was 7 he had been asking his dad and I to buy him a piano, then last year I came into some money and bought him his very own Grand Piano!!!!!!!!! And he plays like a gifted prodigy!!!! I am so proud of him! He's special!

Yeah I like music that doesn’t hurt my head. I know what you are talking about. Maybe 20 years ago in the summer we’d have a radio to listen to while prepping dorms for students and the younger ones wanted hard rock on the shared radio in hallway. They’d crank it up so loud you couldn’t shut out the noise of it. Some of us got headaches. I asked the lead why we couldn’t take turns listening to different types of music. She asked the supervisor who OK’d it and came back with a notebook and asked each one of us what station we wanted to listen to, and it would be for all day. Some liked country music, some soft rock or pop, and I chose classical music 😂 knowing that would end the loud stuff. Only one day of the classical music, which was a lot softer than the rock music was….and the radio mysteriously broke and that was the end of the loud music.

@cherokeepatti Fond memories you have ,thanks for sharing 😊,those days were the best ,weren’t they ?
These days I don’t understand the music nor the lyrics. They’re fused together to form a melody that’s confusing and silly with a bunch of different rhythms , beats and pitches.🤦♀️

@Caleidoscope has something to do with the frequency, which is not good for health. Music frequencies can be healing if they are the right ones. Can be a type of therapy in fact.

well taste is objective but
you MAY be reacting to the enormous mechanical formulaic nature of what they are offered to listen too by "Pop" media
and exposing them to better music will not work. if it is too unfamiliar, it will read as unpleasant noise

Mine also listened to "music" I couldn't take, but over time has migrated more to my tastes and has introduced me to some good stuff...I think they do hear what we are listening to while they are growing up...

Lol it’s not like there’s no good new music but most is bad especially like if it makes it to the radio it seems? I find lots of good stuff still but I have to really look for it..
As far as newer talent that I think has skill doja cat was the last one I liked..

I think a lot of it sucks. You really have to dig deep to find any new music worth listening to.... in my opinion anyway

What was it
Spnk8 · 36-40, M
No it sucks these days. I like the old stuff in any genre. 70's 80's 90's good stuff! Bands just aren't the same there ARE a few that aren't bad these days id say. But for the most part music isnt that great now
Caleidoscope · F
@Spnk8 couldn’t agree more .The golden era of music is gone. Now ,Its all a bunch of bs music with little to no impact
Spnk8 · 36-40, M
@Caleidoscope yep its just all the same. Nothin special no good lyrics not alot of talent. Its just all about makin fast money and puttin stuff out there. And this is coming from someone whos been in bands and still is in one and has been playing drums and singing for 22 years. Ive delt with a few of the record lables and what they look for etc. Its just sad

Definitely depends the genre
Me and my son trade music suggestions all the time
We have similar tastes
Now for current mainstream stuff… it all sucks imo
