Nick Cave - Cosmic Dancer (original: T.Rex)

[media=https://youtu.be/wc7mDChiiNU]

I was dancing when I was twelve
I was dancing when I was twelve
I was dancing when I was out
I was dancing when I was out

I danced myself right out the womb
I danced myself right out the womb
Is it strange to dance so soon?
I danced myself right out the womb

I was dancing when I was eight
I was dancing when I was eight
Is it strange to dance so late?
Is it strange to dance so late?

I danced myself into the tomb
I danced myself into the tomb
Is it strange to dance so soon?
I danced myself into the tomb

Is it wrong to understand
The fear that dwells inside a man?
What's it like to be alone
I liken it to a balloon

I danced myself out of the womb
I danced myself out of the womb
Is it strange to dance so soon?
I danced myself into the tomb

No this version has quite lost the effect Marc Bolan made with this song. This version sounds like a music teacher who has never heard the original yugh horrible
I'll have to listen to the original.

@thewindupbirdchronicles it is on the Electric Warrior album
@Royrogers I already found it, thanks. I'd suggest its differences land on how they are treating the subject (without knowing the original source in writing). Interested, if you know. Nick's slower take, will be from it being in homage to his son who died. Where the original sings, sounds like first person to me.

@thewindupbirdchronicles you may be quite correct. What we think of a piece of music will always be subjective and personal. I was a fan of Marc Bolan when I was a teenager so have a particular liking for his music. To me the music the group Queen produced will only be that from when freddy mercury was alive. And any attempt with someone else singing just not do it for me
@Royrogers I know how we get attached, and it becomes personal. I love Queen, for what it's worth. Not that familiar with Marc Bolan, himself. It's probably how the song took me instantly in how Nick would be singing that gave it that personal touch for me.

@thewindupbirdchronicles that’s because you are young and missed slade, marc Bolan pink floyd and Eric
@Royrogers I know Floyd well... and I'm guessing you mean Clapton, know him well too. I was more talking of the spirit of the performance.
