What is it about music?

I see on here and in real life that many (maybe most) people are almost addicted to music, and while I have some favorites, I listen to music maybe a couple of times a month. Even then it's only in the car.

So, for you that can't live without music, what's the deal?

It helps to release dopamine. It binds memories and emotions, creates and brings up associations in mind.
It often directly influences one's emotional state with tempo and cadence.

The older I am, the less music I listen to as well. I need more silence now than ever before. The highs aren't that strong anymore too.
