What is it about music?

I see on here and in real life that many (maybe most) people are almost addicted to music, and while I have some favorites, I listen to music maybe a couple of times a month. Even then it's only in the car.

So, for you that can't live without music, what's the deal?

I’m not sure how to explain it. I can’t remember a day in my life growing up where there wasn’t music in the background, either the radio, records, someone singing or playing an instrument. You know how some families have get-togethers where even the smallest children are dancing ? That was us. When I was old enough, I was taught how to play piano, organ, violin. One thing that initially drew my parents together was that they both came from families with musicians. So it’s always just been a part of my life.

@bijouxbroussard I think you may have hit on at least part of why I'm just not into music. I grew up in a non-musical family and can't remember music playing, as in not ever.
