What is it about music?

I see on here and in real life that many (maybe most) people are almost addicted to music, and while I have some favorites, I listen to music maybe a couple of times a month. Even then it's only in the car.

So, for you that can't live without music, what's the deal?

I don’t know for sure but maybe because

- some music can melt my heart (Tom Waits and more), or

- it’s the way it gives me wing to fly to heaven (Bach), or

- it’s the way it calms me down (Melody Gardot), and maybe

-it’s the way it makes me tango on my own (Leonard Cohen)…

As I was telling a friend yesterday, my only fear about death is that I might go to an after life World, where there’s no music…
