Agreed @HairbrushDiva, and a great pick too.

"Purple People Eater" by Sheb Wooley (1958).
RoaringLion · 51-55, M
Thanks @hunkalove, this is an excellent choice. The contrast between Sheb and the backing vocalists are quite striking. Goes into overdrive when they layer the vocals in the chorus.
Sparklesatnite · 51-55, F
a great song
RoaringLion · 51-55, M
Thank you @Sparklesatnite ! It is a cover of a French song, The Chariot from memory. Peggy's version was wildly popular, but sadly she never made a cent from this. Because she was underage at the time, her manager squandered all the takings!

Great pick @Sparklesatnite! As catchy as Abba, but with a touch of menace.

it was one of those big hits back in its time @RoaringLion I don’t know about a great pick but certainly will get stuck in the mind

Oh yeah @bijouxbroussard! Nice one. Drummer almost has the whole effect (in the sense of the question) to himself. That and the perfectly melodic guitar bursts give a real catchy backdrop for the singer.
