This seems like the kind of endorsement someone offers up as the reason he decided to try out for one of those Reality-TV talent shows...
Interviewer: "So, why did you decide to try-out for the show?"
Starry-eyed guitar player: "Well, my girlfriend told me I'm a really good guitar player."
And, the person is paraded on the tryout segment of the show because he's so awful and never makes it past the try-out.
