Walking into an old English country pub for lunch today, I found an establishment where they professed an affinity for blues, rockabilly, and folk. With decor to match. A little incongruous, but it worked! Especially when they played this. Sparse, punchy and a lot less dated than mainstream pop of 1955, this would not, in its day, have had an existence outside its immediate cultural context. But I heard it today in the pub. Great stuff!
