There’s a lot. I would have to say this. I grew up close to Robert E. Lee high school where van Zandt, Rossington, and Collins went to school. It was hallowed ground. I remember checking out where different guys lived, grew up.
The plane crash had happened four years earlier when I started highschool on the Jacksonville West Side. There was no escaping Lynyrd Skynyrd, even though we listened to a lot. Even though Skynyrd was on hiatus all through my high-school years.
I was full in. Hard to believe. Had my “confederate flag” just like they blazed at concerts and on some of their logos. I even took one to college. A Cuban guy and a black guy in my suite called me out on it. Made a house call. Sat their asses down in my room and wanted an explanation. I ended up tossing it after I got educated. I was no southerner anyway…
Now I listen to Derek Trucks for that Jacksonville, FL, blues, southern rock, thing. Especially with Susan Tedeschi.

Oooh....i was in high school ( in UK) from Sept 78 to 85. Happy days indeed. These are some of the songs that remind me of school days, particularly school discos and sitting in the common room during free lessons.
