If you’re in the car with someone, do you think listening to music vs a comedy show is appropriate?

Unless you’re both on board, I think putting on a comedy show communicates to the other person in the car that they are shutting down real time conversation whereas background music does not. Anyone agree?

Emphatically!!!

@ProfessorPlum77 Thanks. I used to have a partner who would hop in the car and turn on comedy. It started to become frequent and was a total turn off. Of course you can’t have a convo when someone is listening for jokes….so the ride became dreadful unless you share the same need (and style) of comedy. Sometimes I see my hubby do the same and it irritates me prob more bc of the previous experience. At least he will eventually turn it off.

I think it's an individual choice for those in the car and doesn't matter.

Depends. I love to laugh, but prefer music when I drive.

It depends. If I’m in an Uber I’m not trying to have a conversation. But generally I don’t play my own music or watch tv on a phone or tablet while traveling unless I’m on a train, for example.

@bijouxbroussard I mean on the radio. Some cars are equipped with radio that includes comedy stations/music etc. Some people I know/have known sometimes enter the car and put on comedy right away which is almost like turning on a TV in the car in way. They focus on the show and it seems to preclude conversation which is kind of awkward unless you both are very interested in listening to comedy every time.
