I learned something interesting this morning.

I know the last few years vinyl records have made a huge comeback. Well it seems those old cassette tapes of yours are worth money now. They have increased 98% in value in the last year alone.

Awesome. It's nice that people appreciate the differences in music mediums. Wish my old Eumig cassette player still worked.

@Stereoguy Fantastic. Do you remember the Denon turn table with rosewood base? Gorgeous player.

@Stereoguy I still have an older Yamaha direct drive TT. Not the greatest platform, but it had a pretty good Signet cartridge. If I dig up my old vinyl, I'd like to get a Rega player (I think they still make them). I have a phono preamp that I never use.

Sorry to hear you tossed your old tapes. I kept at least two hundred vinyl LPs (10 of which are picture disks), about fifty 45s, three 78 speed 10-inch albums (Victrola type), album preservative kit, stereo turntable with cassette player, forty cassettes, about six hundred VHS tapes, two VHS/DVD combo players, and about a thousand DVDs. Tried selling some of the VHS tapes, but no go. Maybe they'll be in more demand soon.

The album preservative/cleaner works really well. Glad my turntable has a selection for 78s. Periodically use wet VHS head cleaner even though I only occasionally play VHS tapes. Remember the Betamax/VHS wars?

Still got one Betamax cartridge here somewhere as a collector's item but no player. Went in for the better marketed VHS and didn't look back.

@Stereoguy Wow! You must've gotten top of the line at that price. I got my first one for about four hundred bucks, top loader. They went down in price soon after. I put my 8mm camera with old super hero movies like Captain Mephisto to rest.
