On this day in 1995, singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette released her alt-rock album, Jagged Little Pill.
The album was enormously successful. It has sold over 33 million copies worldwide and it reached #1 on albums charts in a number of countries—including the US, making Morissette the first Canadian woman to reach the top spot on the US albums chart. Jagged Little Pill was also nominated for nine Grammy Awards and won five, including Album of the Year.
Many of the tracks on the album also were successful when they were released as singles: “You Oughta Know”, “Ironic”, “You Learn”, “Head over Feet”, “All I Really Want”, and the song posted above—“Hand in My Pocket”.
