Music and anxiety and depression.

I have both and struggle when I'm alone particularly with my anxiety. I find that I can't concentrate on hobbies or browsing the internet if the room is silent. So I get myself some music on because I can get lost in it whilst I do other things. Sometimes I'll sing and dance too. I also find it interesting how music can fit our mood. If we want to be happy we might put on something lively. If we are sad and need a good cry then a song with meaningful lyrics might hit the spot or even something soothing to calm down. Music is truly amazing!!

Anything that distracts you from your anxiety is good. Music is one of the best things for it if you’re alone.

And at times music doesn’t work at all.

@Fertilization I found that there’s no one distraction for easing anxiety. It’s a process of developing coping strategies that fit the situation where it hits you

@JohnnyNoir I couldn’t put it better myself.

Music is like a spirit, and can do what things of substance can't and yet can be substantial.
