Garfunkel refused to sing "Bridge over Troubled Water" with Simon in the room. They had a very competitive relationship. However, their voices together were amazing, and Garfunkel on "Bridge" created one of the great vocals of this or any other time.

@Fukfacewillie Someone told me that Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had a massive fallout (I can't remember what it was about) and that was why one refused to sing with the other in the room.

@HairbrushDiva Their first split was in the 1950s when they were Tom & Jerry. Right up to 2010 they had occasioanal reunions followed by bitter altercations.
Both have had successful careers and accomplishments. They just couldn't get along.

the record company owner asked Paul to record a song alone and Artie felt betrayed. They were estranged for more than a decade that time.

@LamontCranston In that case it was neither Paul's fault nor Artie's, it was the record company owner to blame.

@HairbrushDiva Paul agreed without discussing it with Art.

@LamontCranston So it was mainly the record company owner, and Paul as well. They should both have let Artie have his say.

@HairbrushDiva Later on Paul was jealous when Art took time off to make the film, "Carnal Knowledge". There was "always something"
