This song was first released in 1955 in the movie of the same name which starred William Holden and Jennifer Jones.
The song won the Academy Award for the best song.

@Gusman Pure voices are not fashionable -- screaming is. Just listen to the majority of current stars trying to sing the STAR SPANGLED BANNER and failing so badly.

@Gusman Loving the blues and rock means I can appreciate a rough voice, too -- but I do think there are a lot of people out there who simply can't sing these days.
