"Je ne regrette rien" Edith Piaf
Edit: A better one by Piaf might be "C'est L'Amour" (It's love)

listen to anything by Jacques Brel - he was belgian, not french, but he is great performer and great romantic
In the 70s while in Korea, I would end my night listening to an instrumental by a composer named Jean-Jaques-Perrey. Is it French per se? Not sure. It is said to be "electronic pop". I found it 'haunting", but have always liked it. Oh, yeah, look up Paul Mauriat. I believe he is French. His very popular song was "Love is Blue", 1968. I hope this helps.

Also try the soundtrack of a French movie, a man and a woman...a black and white movie from the 60s.... Still one of the best love films out there
