The most underrated song ever!

@Burnley123 When my first love and me broke up in the days and weeks after we split I was having trouble because Nothing I could find musically really did my emotions at the time justice. I'm a Poet and honestly I felt like words were failing me entirely because the power of emotions is just not able to be conveyed in words. I tried-

I remember reading that one outloud to my best friend over the phone- I just broke down in tears. I almost choked on them. It was so intense.

I found exactly one song that even came close to how I felt at the time and that's one of the reasons in spite of Rob Thomas being so famous I have enormous respect for him as a writer. He helped when very little else did.

@Burnley123 that poem needs a lot of explaination because of how trapped I was in internal circumstances and it references 3 different partners of mine from back in the 2000 era. One was Annie who I had been with but felt we had so much in common it just wasn't very interesting to be with her because so many of my unconscious reactions to things were very much like hers and I just felt like we were essentially the same and I ultimately left her to be with Nurit who was new interesting and not to mention sexy. Nurit after awhile ultimately wanted an open relationship and pressured me into accepting it. She Was dating a guy she met in high school named blaine and she was lying to him about the two of us. She didn't mention how close we were and denied it ultimately when I tried to convey to blaine-

I tried dating somebody else and similarly not mentioning her name to her for a time. SEe me and nurit were a cyber couple we met online- It was primarily an emotional relationship. Nurit wanted a 'Real relationship" she was horny all the time and used blaine for sex. I met somebody in high school and had my first REAL LIFE girlfriend in a girl named Ailey and I was dating her at the same time and we became a couple but Over time Nurit started contacting me asking me where i'd been what I was doing what was going on and I remember acutely that Ailey took a Trip up to New York and just before she left we had hung out and I had asked her to go to Warped Tour with me that summer as a date and she said it was only a date but we weren't official yet and then we hung out just before she went to New York and I held her in my arms outside my apartment for a very long time before she left and there were lingering emotions between us so she sent me a post card saying we could be a couple- she was my girlfriend When she got back from New york She conveyed a story of meeting some guy on the plane and conversing with him and I just got flashes like what if they? What if she's cheating? and then nurit started contacting me and I started trying to eat something and I couldn't. I was nauseated. It was the guilt of all the secrets I was keeping about my Cyber Engagements and the Open relationship I was in so I had to call ailey and confess to her and she broke it off with me and for the better part of a year and a half me and nurit dated when she broke up with blaine too at some point and I had very much so stressed how uncomfortable it made me that we were in an open relationship and after awhile it seemed like she was interested in mutual friends of ours from the game we met on and I was extremely uncomfortable with that and after awhile my paranoia and jealousy ultimately drove her away and she left....

It's odd- I wasn't ready for the implications of an open relationship back then. I didn't-I hadn't met or seen polyamorous couples talking about their long term relationships before I felt Polyamory was unstable and would ultimately disintegrate so I didn't want to try it with her... I was in love with her and didn't want to risk it.

The lines in the poem about Remembering her words like burning flesh- she was jewish.

Nurit was my first love. So- that basically explains the poem.
