I got suckered into going to a “foreign student” party on campus. The party was nearly 70% dudes. My friend was enjoying his discussions so I didn’t want to leave.

As I stood there, I couldn’t help but think the music sucked. I finally determined it was Seal. (This was the late 90’s)

I walked over to the stereo and started poking around. Then I found it.

I stopped the CD mid song. Everyone one stopped what they were doing to glare at me.

Then I put in this:

Everybody cheered! It got me noticed. I spent most of the night working on a pretty Polish student. It was a good night.

The album also reminds me of my parents.

@Ironicman thanks for the BA!
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@SW-User such a fantastic reason to have that as a best album. It's kinda weird because I was researching Seal just before I wrote this post and thats because there's an advert on tv in the UK featuring "killer"
So when you mentioned it the whole thing magnated me to that BA button.

Heres that advert (go grab the best of ABBA)

@Ironicman that’s actually a sweet commercial.

OH, that brings back fond memories. I loved the fact he was so rebellious and different to the other bands that were around at the time.
I think my all time favourite would have to be 'Legend' by Bob Marley.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@pennynoodles fabulous choice, a true legend.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@pennynoodles I meant to say, it was the excitement of going to Our Price Records and buying It, Bringing it home and playing MY Music on my dad's HiFi cranked up to max!!

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Hard to say really.
I remember listening to Aretha Franklin's 'Yeah' (1965) and being totally blown away by the range she had in her voice. It's also more of a jazz album than much of the rest of her blues/soul work

Santana's 'Santana' (1969) I remember my dad sat with his mate listening to this 'wild album, man' (his friends words) And so it is ! Great stuff ! Lots of raw energy and a distinctly 'Latin' feel to a rock album i think.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 come on Picklebobbs. You get to pick one only
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Ironicman Boo ! OK gotta be Aretha.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 good man, great choice.

🤔 hmm that’s a tough one but I think when all is said and done Fallen by Evanescence is just a pure work of art.. one of my fav songs [media=https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=di8zQcabGBc]
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@SW-User I like what I hear and will listen.
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
Hard call. Falling Into Place by David Dallas is one of my faves. Good mix of songs on that one and some slept on hits.

I really can’t choose one..a lot of stuff from my younger days I still like to hear for nostalgia but my tastes have changed
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
I can't choose, I could only choose my favorite from each artist
Dominantsoul · 56-60, M
A very very hard choice.
1) The final cut , Pink Floyd, though I might run with Pulse just because it has so many great tracks on and all of DSoftM on it.
2) Tubular Bells
3) David Bowie "Heroes"
@Dominantsoul @Ironicman

Shit! Just the mention of tubular bells!!!!
My God - the 70s.
I came to this album late.
But my experience with it was.... Unfuckingreal.
My brother has Autism, but his thing is electronics. Somehow he met this Guy who became his mentor.
This Guy fixed hi end stereos, elite clientele, gold wiring and all that.
He had this room that had more records than a record store.
I spent Hours flipping through albums.
I picked Tb because of the cover. I remember he smiled and said, "Oh Yeah, You're gonna like this one" he sat me in the sweet spot, and put it on.

And right now - I have tears in my eyes, and goose bumps all over just remembering. The music was in my head - my body stopped, and the music took over

...and he made me an audiophile for life.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
I can imagine how that felt. My father had a valve amp in the 70s that he went without to save for. When he wasn't around we weren't aloud to touch it but we did. I had to make drawings of where all,the knobs and dials were so I could leave it as I found it. Vinyl sounded so good through that system. Lol @BoobooSnafu
@Ironicman You seen they're coming back into yuppie fashion?
They just put them under glass now.
Nothing beats solid state hardware....nothing.
So tough, I got a few, but Synchronicity is one of the tops, oh and Sky 2.

...shit! - cant forget Dark Side of the Moon.

...i should never have answered this question it's impossible!!!
Ironicman · 56-60, M
@BoobooSnafu dont let me down.
