@Itsmrsockmonkey you're bending the strings and going outside of the rock n roll genre, but absolutely chet and Lenny paved the way for many guitarist , in many different genres of music ,and Mark Knofler joined Mr. Atkins on "Neck and neck", which was and still is a tremendous guitar based recording.

@Itsmrsockmonkey I had never heard of Chet Atkins so I looked him up on youtube, he has such a cool style, I would bet 1 million dollars that when Steve Howe composed "the clap" he has previously listened to Chet Atkins.

@reflectingmonkey I would bet there's not a guitar player alive, who hasn't tried to channel Chet Atkins at one time or another.
@SW-User true, my dad met Chet. He wanted to sign him. Chet did a special with Mark, the Everly Brothers, Willie Nelson, Michael MacDonald. .and many more. The guy on keyboards that did the intro to "Walk of Life" of Mark Knofler is my dad's 1st cousin Clayton Ivey, he was one of the "Swampers" a well known group of studio musicians out of Muscle Shoals Ala that's mentioned in the 2nd Verse of Lynyrd Skynyrds hit "Sweet Home Alabama"

@SW-User I've always wondered where Steve Howe had come up with that style of picking and in a video on youtube Chet explains how he basically invented that style, he sais he learned by himself so didn't know better, just developed by itself.

@Itsmrsockmonkey that's awesome. I knew exactly sho you were referring to when you said the swampers, just because of the song. That's some serious history bud.
@SW-User many famous people came to my grandpas bar. There's a lot more history in my family. And thanks man
