Who’s the best guitarist ever?

Eric Clapton? Jimi Hendrix? Mark Knopfler? Or somebody else?

Kirk Hammett, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Santana, Stevie Ray Vaugh, Steve Howe, Mark knofler these are some of MY favorites but someone else might have a different opinion.

@reflectingmonkey you covered a lot of ground just now. I couldn't argue with any one of your choices.i guess if I had to, Kirk Hammet would be one id eliminate from the list. Only if I had to mind you. I just always found Kirk to be a little one dimensional , but that's my uneducated opinion, and it ain't worth the paper it's written on, so....moving right along. Lol

I need to add Django Reinhart, Al diMeola and John McLaughlin or it would just be wrong

@SW-User I know what you mean about Kirk Hammet, he like had one very specific style and never steps out of character even for a second but in that style he is not human. most versatile would maybe be between Page and Howe, all the others are amazing but really stick mostly to one style.

@reflectingmonkey the list just goes on eh?

@SW-User I just think that at that level of mastery they are all amazing and its hard to say that one is THE best.

@reflectingmonkey I couldn't agree more. It's fun to hear who people like though.

@SW-User man, I just came back from youtube to listen to a bit of Django Reinhart with a bunch of guys playing a piece called "dark eyes" and its surprising none of the had a heart attack playing that piece, its so intense.
