I tell people that it was Mad World by Tears for Fears 7in single. It was actually one of those Top of the Pops compilation albums.
MrsNesbitt · 56-60, F
@AliceTinker me too.... I'm pretty sure it was a Christmas present from a grandparent. Soooo disappointed.
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@MrsNesbitt If we'd been old enough I'm fairly sure we would have said "WTF?"
MrsNesbitt · 56-60, F
@AliceTinker definitely!
Montanaman · M

That's hard to say, my dad used to bring home 45's for me when I was young. I remember the One Eyed, One Horned, Flying Purple People Eater. My first I bought was a 10 record Columbia House deal that included both Johnny Cash live records, Janis Joplin, Indian Reservation, don't remember all of them.
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@GerOttman wow your 10 record deal sounds amazing!
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@AliceTinker You got 10 albums for like a dollar and shipping then had to buy a certain number more over the next year I think it was. I built up a half decent collection from that deal.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@AliceTinker Other early 45's included Please Mr. Custer and Open the Door Richard! It was an age of novelty hits!
I'm a Believer by the Monkees on 45.

Pink Floyd - Meddle. And yes it was vinyl and yes I still have it. Played it so many times you could see through it damn near.

4thdimensiondream · 61-69, M
My first purchase was a 45. It was Wedding Bell Blues by the 5th Dimension. My first album was Elton John’s Honky Chateau.
