How can I fix a problem with my Windows Media Player?

It no longer copies CDs because the "rip CD" feature has been disabled. I have checked and it is not only my own PC, I have tried it on another one. It's not the disc because I've tried more than one. It must be those Windows "updates" (downdates, more like) that have tampered with it. How can I fix it to go back to how it was?

Have you tried system restore? Type in system restore, click on the blue bar suggestion, then when your computer brings up the restore box, click on select a restore point, and select a date prior to the disable. From there the computer just walks you through it.

@BatFasterly If you have windows 10 type system restore into Cortana's search window right next to the windows button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.

You'll see a blue area that says create a restore point, click on that.

Wait a minute, and the system restore window will pop up. It takes a minute or so.

@BatFasterly Uggh!!! Sounds like a virus. If you have an anti-virus company with support, give them a call and ask them if that's what might have happened. The only time my system restore ever disappeared was on my old laptop which died of terminal virus. Another thing you can try is to contact the company from which you purchased your laptop or computer, and see how much they would charge to run your factory disc again.
