Do you like your organ to sound froogly-boogly, or do you prefer it to be phlanged and Leslied?

I love Leslie speakers! Richard Wright's (of Pink Floyd fame) famous "ping" sound at the beginning of the Floyd's "Echoes" tune is an amazing example.
Those speakers are completely outdated today, of course, because you can easily produce the typical Leslie sound by some digital audio processing.

@helenS actually getting that sound with digital stuff is difficult. While on record it will sound good enough in the room it's hugely different. I had a mate who had a Fender Vibratone - not like a Leslie as the baffles move not the speaker. However similar sound. Trust me it's the 3d movement of the sound in the space you simply can't recreate.
