"(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher" [1967] - Jackie Wilson

This classic R&B song was released 52 years ago this month.

It was one of singer Jackie Wilson's greatest hits, reaching #1 on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart and #6 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.S. Cash Box Top 100 charts.

The song was also a hit in a number of other countries, rising to #2 in Canada, #11 in the UK, and #12 in Ireland.

The video (posted above) of Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth dancing together while the song plays is fun to watch. Can't remember if I posted it before, but it doesn't matter as it's such an awesome video that it's well worth posting a second time.

@Vivaci Lol. As I said, it's well worth posting a second time.

I do remember posting a video of FA and RH dancing, but I thought the song was a different one. 🤔
@Rutterman There's no comparison to Fred Astaire's tap dancing and the graceful Rita Hayworth just adds perfection to the masterpiece....blends to the T with the song!! 🥂👌

Yeah, lemme find that link for you! 🙃

@Vivaci Haha. You don't have to do that. 😄
@Rutterman Check your notification, MT! 🙃💋
@Vivaci I had replied to this a number of days ago with a fun, lighthearted, sweet and endearing post. The Karma a was not right for that and I deleted it.

I'm recreating (as best as I can from memory) that reply for YOU this time.

"And then we have this dome by Ivory Joe ten years earlier. I believe you and I have a shared friend on here that you have feelings for? No? Perhaps I speak in error. But "when she walks through that door your empty arms you'll have no more". Notice the change from first to third person?"

"I think this complements your excellent post rather well. I could be wrong."

"You may also see her as this and to that end I'm glad. I know I do."

"Ok I'm outta here."

It went something like that V. Hours later I realized this was NOT the home for this and it went. BUT--if you enjoy older music you may like these songs.

Stay sweet!
@Elandra77 awwww....this is sweet and endearing 😸🙈...and Rutters must have smiled and laughed at this....hahaha!! 💞

This is adorable...thank you, Elandra! 😃💃🕺💃🏼
@Vivaci I'm glad you appreciated my attempt at joviality and sweetness. These were easy to pair together as songs that supported a message. Not sure Danny even saw this before it was taken down.

And you are welcome. This was a fun post to do. (originally)

You may like this if you Fred's dancing. It doesn't get any better.

@Elandra77 oh this much I can surely say bout Danny that he will never ignore any comment on his post. He might have left it for later (if he needs to research on that song or topic), or he'll surely comment on it. 🤗

@Elandra77 Thank you so much for recreating your original reply. I was aware you had posted a comment of some sort, but I didn't have a chance to look at it while it was still up as I had to get back to work.

Love both your comments and the music. Thanks again. 🤗
@Elandra77 I don't think sharing any number of music videos on any of Rutter's posts is ever tabboo. Au contrairé! 😉🤷
@Rutterman @Vivaci It was hard for me to stop at to as when I do my show-which is like a radio transcript set to music, I post 11-13 songs.

Like this for example. One need not listen BUT it is a great playlist.
