FYI: Spring time is when things are New

Yeah the lights are great and all however, we are in the winter Solstice it is when things are Dead. It’s not new haven’t came to life yet. It’s dormant or germinating. How do we know this?

Ask a Farmer. They have the keys to nature.

Dec 31 is the end of the Fiscal year . And New Fiscal year begins, This is all about money. Capitalism.🤦🏿‍♂️

Winter Solstice marks the time when the hours of daylight begin increasing.
I recognize that as a New Start.
In Olden Times it was the point of the year when everyone could say, "Well done, we've made it through the darkness."

You're point about business is well taken though. Everything changes and twists over time.
But for me the Solstice is still the new beginning.
