If you could have done something different with Star Wars what would it have been?

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, I like the old Expanded Universe, now called Legends. If I was in charge of Lucasfilm I would have let Star Wars have two alternate but equal timelines one for Legends so that could continue and another for the Sequel Trilogy. I was on Reddit reading how the Sequel Trilogy could have been done and someone made some good ideas. These ideas were a children's series on the Jedi Academy (I guess Luke's), a darker more adult oriented series on Boba Fett, I think these were great ideas and I think something with Thrawn, a George Lucas style Sequel Trilogy, and another trilogy on the Yuuzhan Vong. I would also have had in this version of events Luke could still marry Mara Jade but not have a son with her. The show Star Wars Underworld could have been made and we could see the crime cartels, especially Jabba the Hutts. In this scenario I would still go to Legends for inspiration but not take so many characters from it, I would want writers to make brand new characters exclusive to this universe. I would still have also let there be stories about Revan and Darth Bane but there stories would not be quite like they are in Legends. How would you have done it differently if you could? What do you think of these ideas?

I would entertain Buck Rogers still even though George Lucas eventually gave that idea up!

The fact that they had Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill on board for the last trilogy and could not figure out a way to write a script that gave them all at least one scene together was colossally incompetent. That’s the most blatant mistake made across any of the movies.

@NativePortlander1970 They knew they were making a trilogy but inexplicably decided not to create a cohesive storyline arced across three films. Instead, they just made it up as they went along and ended up creating an inconsistent and unwatchable mess.
@BamPow The fact that they handed SW over to Kathleen Kennedy was the first mistake
