Child of the light part 2

The Freighter eased its way into Sahan's atmosphere, the freighter's sensors informing the captain that the world was very much at the lower end of the technological scale and probably did not receive many outsiders.

His eyes ran over the screen as the freighter broke through into the atmosphere, his attention drawn downwards as the monitor as it displayed that the planet was largely made up of forest and wilderness areas

His eyes scanned over the monitor until he saw the nearest habitable area and a good place to land, his body twisted in the chair as he touched the controls of the freighter and looked back to the monitor once more.

The Freighter adjusted its flight path towards what appeared to be a small town, he surmised it had grown out of explorers and Vagabonds that had taken to colonising these outer rim territory planets to escape the attentions of the Empire and any such entanglements

The vastness of space was again disrupted by the form of an Imperial Star Destroyer as it dropped from Hyperspace and found the normal space around it, its massive metallic grey form coming to a stop before its gigantic sublight engines roared into life and eased it through space.

The Behemoth War machine of the Galactic Empire turned slowly before the Engines lit up and the Destroyer powered its way towards the planet before and travelling a short distance before beginning to slow once more and then coming to a dead stop.

Several launch bays beneath the ISD Storm hawk opened and released a dozen Imperial tie fighters, the imperial starfighters swarming outwards and forming into wings of three fighters each and a holding pattern.

Another shuttle bay opened a moment after the Tie fighters had assumed their formations and three Imperial Lambda-class shuttles lowered into the vastness of space.

Powering up their engines before drifting away from the Storm Hawk and easing into a tight formation with their fighter escorts and turning towards their target, the planet of Sahan.

Christie walked down the ramp of the freighter, the sound of his worn boots against the metallic ramp, the air fresh and a cool breeze washing over him as he reached the bottom of the ramp, he stopped for a moment to enjoy the breeze and taking in a deep lungful of the fresh air after spending way too long in the confines of the freighter.

He adjusted the bag that hung over his right shoulder as he left the ramp and found the rough ground beneath his feet, his mind now listening for the call of the force again. his senses stretching out to form an image of this new place.

The docking bay was a makeshift at best, wooden boxes laying around the edges of it, no roof to the stone structure that must have taken the pilot not some inconsiderable skill to land in the space provided.

The force had led him here, but now it seemed to have deserted him, his mind not feeling the calling as before, now feeling as blind as a newborn animal, but he was on this path now and could not falter from it.

He moved past two locals dressed in what seemed as close to bureaucratic clothing as he had seen in some time, each man carrying a data pad as they eyed Christie and moved quickly past him and towards the freighter. the sound of the captain's boots was now heard on the ramp as he walked down it to meet them.

Christie moved from the docking bay and into the street beyond, his eyes surveyed his surroundings and it seemed like any other frontier town he had seen in the past, like so many other places that had grown from the formation of the Galactic Empire, people wanting to escape from the politics of the Core worlds and all the wealth that they stole.

These out rim worlds offered a place for people to escape to and perhaps create a better life for themselves. the reach of the Empire was not without limits when it was not forced into action.

The reach of that Empire having been tested since the rise of a fledgling rebellion that had struck at the monster that had risen from the ashes of the old republic, the Empire has suffered the loss of its ultimate weapon in the Death star to brave pilots in snub fighters against a war machine the size of a small planet.

The victory was a rallying call to the rest of the galaxy and rocking the Empire back on its heels, not since the formation and the tyranny it had forced upon the galaxy, The emperor causing the people to turn against the Jedi Order and the clone troopers they had fought with turned on them as order 66 rung out across the galaxy

Lost in these thoughts too much for him, he shook his head and was suddenly overwhelmed by the feelings of pain and sorrow that had dragged him from where he had hidden for so long and taken him to this planet.

For months, he felt the call of the force and had tried to ignore it, he could do nothing against the power of the Galactic Empire, to leave his place of hiding would do nothing but bring death down on him, he would just end up joining his fallen brothers and sisters and what would that achieve?

Drawing in a deep breath, he tried to force the pain and suffering down, his mind racing as he found his focus once more and although he could not fully understand what to do next? he knew that he had to keep moving and stumbled forward before finding his balance once more and moving forward into the town.

The Imperials dropped quietly into the planet's atmosphere like silent killers stalking their prey, a quick burst of communication chatter spread between the three shuttles and they broke in three separate directions.

The Tie fighter escorts split off to follow each of their assigned shuttles and flew in a protective formation around them. twin ion engines were lighting up as they shifted into place and began to move in a holding pattern just above the level of the clouds.

The shuttles broke through the cloud cover as they continued to descend into the atmosphere, the flights still keeping high enough to avoid any casual observation, the lead shuttle dropping off to the southern area of the town they had pinpointed from the Storm Hawk's sensors as it sat in orbit.
