I Am Such a Star Wars Nerd

So I spent the day with my Dad at the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge park in Disney World. It was a lot of fun!

I played a lot with the mobile app game that interacts with the park, and became a rank 4 scoundrel, so now I'm a notorious bandit in Black Spire Outpost. It was a great moment when I hacked into Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter while he's standing next to me yelling about Resistance thieves and spies. Yeah, go get 'em, Kylo. I'm sure you'll find them somewhere.

The Millenium Falcon ride was fun, but not worth the 110 minute wait. We rode it twice, but did the single rider line once to skip most of the wait. I was an engineer both times, and it really appealed to my sci-fi dream of hitting random buttons and switches really fast to make the ship work again.

I resisted the urge to build a $200 lightsaber, despite the fact that they looked really good, and the parts they had on display for demo felt really legit. Like, the leather parts felt like it might actually be leather, and the metal parts were definitely metal.

I did cave and made a droid. I built it based on an R2 unit I had in the old Star Wars Galaxies MMO game. It had terrible stats, but my character was broke and couldn't afford the good ones that the crafters made. But it was mine! So, here's my new robot daughter, R4-72. She has a smuggler personality chip, and I carried her around in my backpack. It was cute, and she made noises throughout the park whenever things happened. Like, she actually made a worried noise and I turned around just as two stormtroopers were approaching. It was really cool.

And then I got to see Vader being menacing at children on stage, and it reminded me just how lame a villain Kylo Ren is. I kept seeing him throughout the day threatening random park guests, and it did nothing for me. Vader walks out in a show to purposefully lose to children, and I still felt that powerful presence. (Plus, under the stage lighting and fog, the lightsabers you can build look so good!)

Anyway, that's enough fan-girling for tonight. I have to plan how I'm going to paint and weather the droid to make it look more in-universe, and less like an expensive toy.

So did you get your tickets for the next movie yet?
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@Spokeskitties75 Not yet. I'm trying not to get myself caught up in the hype-storm again. I'll still probably end up there opening weekend, though.

@FaeLuna I came close to buying tickets when they went on sale... but like you... I’m trying to stay calm and sane

@Spokeskitties75 I've been bitten by the hype bug before, especially on Star Wars. I just hope they pull it off with this one.

@FaeLuna I agree!!!
