RIP: Bob McGrath from Sesame Street

"Bob" from Sesame Street (a U.S. Television program for young children) passed away in December.

I was reading an obituary of him. He once related a story of a little boy coming up to him to shake his hand.

"Do you know my name?" he asked.
"Bob," replied the boy.
"And do you know any of my other friends from Sesame Street?"
"Oh, the number 7!"

I read about that. How sad.
This REALLY feels like the end of an era.

One of the original cast members.
Long before his stint on Sesame Street, he was a relatively well-known Irish tenor.

@bijouxbroussard Yes, and he had a following as a singer among teens in Japan, of all places!
@DrWatson That’s wild, but yes ! He has a recording singing "Danny Boy" in Japanese ! 😃

@bijouxbroussard Well, in a bizarre way, that paved the way for Sesame Street, which did strive to be multicultural! 😄

That memory is a good one to share. Thank you.
Makes me think about finding some Sesame Street videos with him in... to show children who may never see them.
