I sleep with a gun under my pillow but...

I honestly think to be woken in the middle of the night to an intruder would just leave me disoriented.

Once it happened that I received a message on my phone that a human was detected at my front door at 3am and that is how this started.

But I checked the cameras and went out to look around (like most people do when they die in horror movies) but nobody was there.

In an emergency like you describe, I think I would worry about blowing my own brains out if I had a gun there

@FreddieUK yea I felt this way too!

But I don't keep it with a bullet in the chamber. I would have to rack it first before I could pull the trigger and that is kind of an extra step I would never imagine doing while half awake.

@FreddieUK Honestly I am not even sure if I would even wake up ready for action. I'd probably be disoriented for a good 10 seconds.

But people can run fast in 10 seconds so I would probably just be murdered.

Since I was in the army, I’m very reactive, one time there was a loud scream in the night. My wife was scared and I jumped up in a second and ran outside with a baseball bat. She said she was really impressed. I’m really the guy you need in case of an emergency.😊
