Yes. They did a survey in Uk about children asking that same exact question - ti draw a chicken, they all drew roasted chicken, not the actual bird.

I could believe city folks have never seen livestock while living....
Of course, I thought they would know what it generally looks like from like kid books and stuff, but maybe a poor person didn't have that stuff as a kid.

@SW-User true, but they probably know stuff that you haven't experienced as well, I don't know what, but something...
We all have different maybe similar, but different experiences.

@Viper id love visiting the countryside at last from time to time to feel alive if I was in that situation, I'm lucky to live in the middle of everything I guess

@SW-User A coworker just saw a goat for the first time. She must be in her mid thirties.
antonioioio · 70-79, M
I was brought up on a farm but I have worked in a factory in the city with people who have never seen a chicken
They used to slag me about things they thought I would have seen and visa versa 😊

@antonioioio why are so surprised
How could you have a chicken farm in the city 🤔

SW-User
@antonioioio but could have visited once one... A farm or something or not necessarily a farm
antonioioio · 70-79, M
@SW-User yes, that would happen with the more well off kids
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
I saw a live chicken for the first time just a year-and-a-half ago. Before 26 years old I had never seen one.
NerdyPotato · M
That seems unlikely, even living in a city.
SW-User
@NerdyPotato but it looks some people don't know
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
I remember someone being shocked af when they learned milk came from cows and not pigs 🤣
SW-User
@SkeetSkeet hahaha omg so yeah some people do believe in strange things like those
deadgerbil · 26-30
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@SkeetSkeet wtf? lol
Hmm. Maybe they meant..never seen a live one in person?? Otherwise. Had to of seen one on tv at least I'd imagine lol
I used to raise chickens. Kinda miss them

This was the last 4 i had got. They were also my favorites. I had them long while too. I was separating them few days before introducing them to others

@Bexsy seems like a beautiful life, in a farm and stuff
@SW-User I truly enjoyed it. But i needed to work job instead after divorce

I'll never forget when a close friend of mine told me he'd never eaten an orange before. I was like 🤨🤨🤨
I love the guy, but that made no sense to me. How can you be 20 the first time you try an orange?

@SW-User hahaha that made me giggle 🤭 and yeah.. There are things that seem hard to believe
deadgerbil · 26-30
It's believable that many people haven't seen a chicken. If they are in an affluent city, there's really no opportunity to see a chicken unless you go out of your way and look for it
SW-User
@deadgerbil yes I guess if they never have gotten out of it to places where they are it's a reality...
Spoiledbrat · F
I doubt if I've seen one but I've seen them on tv plenty of times. It's not like I don't know what they look like. I live in the city and don't know anyone who has a farm though.
SW-User
@Spoiledbrat makes sense
Lostpoet · M
Not on tv or in books?
Lostpoet · M
@SW-User Yeah, my dad has a bunch of them.
SW-User
@Lostpoet they're adorable when they're babies
Lostpoet · M
@SW-User truth
Selah ·
Lol I wouldn't be surprised. People are sheltered in the weirdest most specific ways
SW-User
@Selah true
revenant · F
I would believe that. Many kids in the city have never seen live farm animals.
SW-User
@revenant kinda sad
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I'm sure there are a lot of city people who have never seen a chicken in real life; just television.
SW-User
Some people have led very insulated lives, especially if they are still relatively young and have never been outside of a city
It's plausible they've never seen a real chicken in real life, but I think it would be harder to avoid at least seeing a photo or video of one, especially in the Internet era
