Classic Error of huge proportions!

Back in the 90's Netflix set a meeting with Blockbuster Video. Netflix offered to sell to Blockbuster. Blockbuster laughed them out of their office saying Netflix would never make it and they were not wasting their money. Well today Blockbuster is gone and Netflix is going strong. Take a look at what Netflix is doing now.

@JoyfulSilence I don't blame you. I hope they add all the Warner Brothers classic movies. I think what we all want is more and different content.

Yeah.

I used to get TCM with standard cable, but the cable company moved it to an extra package that requires a subscription, so I rarely see any old, classic movies anymore.

@JoyfulSilence I know. Same here. I am just not paying extra for classics. I am already paying too much as it is in my opinion.

Yes, it is outrageous. My bill also includes internet and a loan line phone. I also pay for mobile service, but with Verizon (where I got the phone).

@JoyfulSilence We use Verizon too. A good friend, it's him and his wife that we are having breakfast out with tomorrow, that was the South East regional manager for a cellphone leasing company. He just started a new job Dec 1st to tomorrow we will hear all of that. Anyway, he said that because my wife and I travel in the motorhome Verizon has the best coverage and told us to stay with them.

Verizon has been good, for the most part. Yet odd. Sometimes my service is better on top of an Appalachian mountain than in my apartment or office.

Yet they gave me a free $1000 phone last year, so I am not complaining. All I had to do was upgrade to unlimited, service (I had only 3 GB a month before) which turned out to be only about $10 more a month. Yet I think if I switch carriers too early I have to pay off the phone. I think they only pay a little at a time, not all at once, like I would have done had it not been free.

But everybody wanted to give me a free phone at that time. Some still do! My parents still use old dumb mobile flip phones. I tell them they could probably get a free smart phone to. They also use Verizon. Maybe there is some family discount, too. But they are so old fashioned.

@JoyfulSilence My dad used a old flip phone too. I actually still have it. I am going to look at their Black Friday deals. I would really like a new Google Pixel 10 Pro without having to pay for it.

@Musicman

They gave me a free Pixel 9.

So much better than my Samsung Galaxy S6 from 2015. I love the camera, memory, battery life, and 5G!

@JoyfulSilence I currently have the Pixel 6 Pro. It still works good. I would just like an upgrade.

I hope you can get a deal!

@JoyfulSilence Thank you very much 🙂 I would love it if I don't have to upgrade my plan. I definitely don't want to pay $1100 either. Google will sell me a unlocked one for $800, but I don't want to pay that much either. Sorry, but I am frugal.

In my case I had no choice. My phone was literally popping apart. Somebody noticed and said he used to sell phones and that my battery might explode. The Verizon salesperson did not seem worried. But the phone was nearly 10 years old, so it was time!

Maybe my current new one will last 10 years, too!

My next purchase will likely be a new computer. My current tower is 13 years old! So old I cannot upgrade Windows anymore.

@JoyfulSilence Our laptop was 10 years old. We just bought a new Lenovo. I have never kept a phone for 10 years. I have never had a battery last that long either. My 6 is four years old. Four years is pretty good for me.
