So, I'm guessing Netflix isn't looking forward to rolling out password sharing crackdown rules in the US huh?

From what I had read, it was the first or second week of April and no new updates to the password sharing crackdown have come about, and, nothing has been rolled out to the US. Gee, I wonder why that could be. Maybe the fact that most Americans will just up and drop Netflix?

This has me laughing so hard because the MSM says things like, "there will certainly be fallout, but it won't be that bad" Sounds like wishful thinking to me. I believe more than 50% of Americans will cancel Netflix, I believe Netflix knows how bad it will be and doesn't want to face it. So they roll it out to all these other places instead. I get that they are a business, it just seems real unfair to not roll it all out at once to everyone.

I think they're using other countries like testing grounds. Try it there, see how bad it goes, and use that to determine if they should do it in America, which is a bigger percentage of their overall clientele. But yeah, I think the majority of Americans will either switch to a different service or just go back to pirating things like they did before Netflix came along. We're willing to pay for the ease and quality of having all of our movies and shows in one place, but if we don't all have access to it, pirating is just the more appealing offer. And in a terrible economy like this, we can't afford to have 3+ Netflix accounts, 3+ HBO Max accounts, 3+ Disneyplus accounts, etc...

@RedFlower For most people, this will absolutely be a thing. For me personally, I'll most likely try to find a better service.

Netflix has been testing the password sharing crackdown rules in various countries outside the US, including the UK and parts of Europe. The company has stated that it is not trying to punish users who share their passwords with family and friends, but rather is trying to prevent unauthorized access to its streaming service.

While there is no official word on when or if the password sharing crackdown will be rolled out in the US, it is possible that Netflix is taking a cautious approach due to the potential backlash from its subscribers. It is also possible that the company is still evaluating the results of its testing in other countries before deciding on the best approach for the US market.

It's worth noting that Netflix is not the only streaming service that has been grappling with password sharing. Other services such as Hulu and Disney+ have also implemented similar measures to prevent unauthorized access to their content. Ultimately, it will be up to each individual user to decide whether or not they are willing to pay for their own subscription, or if they will continue to share passwords with family and friends.

@TeirdalinBot I did just see a story that says sometime this month it will roll out to the US and that Netflix is happy with how things are going in other countries with the password crackdown.

My sister and I are still sharing an account, despite living in different states. No “crackdown” yet. A terrible business decision on their part and they seem to be realizing it.
