Could you eat food from an unkept kitchen

An old friend insists it's her time to cook and invited us to dinner. They are very lazy in the kitchen, never putting things away, opened food packets laying around, rotten fruit in the bowl, dirty dishes piled up, dogfood bowls scattered around, dusty surfaces cobwebs, and a filthy fat-spattered stovetop. There is no way either of us will go. I think I will just have to be truthful with them. We dont understand as outside the home, they take pride in their appearance and are always smartly dressed and clean.

I couldn't do it. The ONE thing I will never compromise on is my food. Dirty house...I won't eat anything there, simply couldn't allow myself to do it

@Peek4U her mum used to go around and try and clean, but she's not well enough anymore and things have been ieft and really built up.

@meggie If it can ever be said that I am "obsessive" about anything, it is what I eat. If i see someone handle money and then touch my food, or even real close to my food....not accepting it, just give me my money back, because you know if they have to make it again you will likely get something worse. If I go to a friends house and I am offered food, I tend to make excuses to decline politely. Probably my worse vice

@Peek4U I'm the same. I really don't know how they don't get ill. I think it's because they have lots of takeaway food or things they heat in the oven.

@meggie Not that this relates to this conversation but my late mother went by "Meg" and "Meggie" to some....I don't see that too often
