I Love Hulu

I REALLY wanted to like Handmaid's Tale. I really did. I hated the book because of the style it was written in and how it took a solid concept and character and then made them in to the equivalent of a child going emo to scare their parents for not getting their own way.

But the show is VERY well acted and actually scores better than the book itself. But this season...this season is turning in to the book as far as the whiney hit-you-over-the-head feeling of things rather than focusing on the plot.

I loved the book. Didn't know there was a show.
@Mamapolo2016 The concept was good for the most part. But the way Offred was built up in to a solid character with personality and life, then midway just...i don't know. becomes a harpy like shrew instead of the intelligent stubborn heroine she was.
@EllaDisenchanted I didn't get that feeling but I couldn't blame anyone whose sweet dispositiom suffered a bit in such circumstances. And I read it a long time ago.
@Mamapolo2016 Oh, I wouldn't say it's the change in her personality. Far from it. June started out VERY strong and opinionated and I loved it. But then she just turns from a woman hiding her natural need to be an individual for her life's sake to whiney and shrill without common sense. At first I figured well, they wore her down a bit but nope. She just had a personality shift without real context and the chance for perfect context was right there.
Like I said, a long time ago.@EllaDisenchanted
@Mamapolo2016 Yep. Just not many people have read it for quite a while and most now just watch the show.
