Halloween - The Movies

What is everyone's thoughts and feelings on the Halloween saga.

For me the 1978 original is the best.. I do love the "new sequel's" although the last one was the weakest of the new three by far. I do love the new timeline of them.

Halloween H20 was ok and was actually the first of them I've seen in the cinema. I have a soft spot for Halloween 4 and Curse of Michael Myers (Halloween 6) although the directors cut sounds a far better story.

I don't mind the Rob Zombie ones, love the stuff with Michael as a child

Any stand out moments for anyone? The very opening scene of the original movie is pretty epic and creepy.

At this point I'm way more scared of Jamie Lee Curtis' super natural powers than I am Micheal Myers. I mean every time she gets killed she'll just rematerialise with a completely different child and backstory a couple of films later.

So I've come up with a non Jamie Lee Curtis cannon where only Halloween 3 to 6 count and the two Rob Zombie films are the prequels haha😅

I'm joking of course, I mean I don't actually mind them having multiple timeline canons that just discard previous sequels. Each reboot usually has a decent film in there somewhere.

I've been slated for this by online community but my favourite part of the whole Halloween franchise is from Halloween: Resurrection, when one of the kids fights back. The boy is Rudy and is a real survivor using whatever he has to hand as a weapon, he also talks to himself/Michael throughout the encounter which is a method for calming your nerves. People said this was cheesy but I found it realistic.

@GeniUs I can't remember the scene you describe. I'm in work but will give it a watch when I get a moment.

The original trilogy I love, the first movie is one of my all time favourites. I don’t mind the Rob Zombie remake, I’m a Rob Zombie fan. The last two movies have been utter shit and they should have just stopped and left it alone

There's a great song about Halloween by Ice Nine Kills called Stabbing In The Dark. I highly recommend it. They make such great songs about slasher and horror movies.

'78 original, and the sequel Halloween II.
I ignore the rest.

I actually agree with everything you say here.
I was always more of a Nightmare on Elm Street fan really. I mean, I've watched most of the Halloween movies but the protagonist never really inspired me that much. I even preferred the Friday 13th movies.

@BadAssTunaBotHoe A Nightmare on Elm Street is good. There are some shite in the series. Really loved 1 and 3.

Freddie is a great character.

I did enjoy Friday the 13th movies, well some of them but in the order of franchises it would be third behind Halloween and Nightmare

I love the Halloween movies. The last one really disappointed me though.
Caraxes · 41-45, M
@TheFragile yeah it was a drop off on the previous two.

@Caraxes for sure. I went with my son who's 17 and he actually wanted to leave before it was over.

@TheFragile I wasn't at that stage and am actually looking forward to watching it again with my step daughter. I said earlier that Halloween 2 was the film I've seen the least out of the lot but it's actually the last one as I only seen it in the cinema.

Rewatched the Rob Zombie one the other day I remembered it more fondly than I experience the other day. Really enjoyed it up to the escape and then for me it went downhill

Sequels, especially in this genre, get more tired and lame each time they dig up the dead monster to kill him again.

Season of the Witch is 4eqy the only one I thought was worth rewatching. Idk, Micheal Meyers isn't scary. I'll even go on to say the first two aren't even horror movies, just run of the mill suspense.

@SourceDecay I hated Halloween 3 and can see why they quickly went back to Michael Myers.

Halloween 2 is the film I've seen least out of the whole saga.
