CC #4 Fascination - 1979 - Jean Rollin
Getting back to the spooky mode with this French horror. I am not for some reason a fan of Rollin, i've got a box set of his Vampire films, and while visually sumptuous, they leave me cold. He features beautiful women often in various stages of undress, but still it fails to capture my affection.
Fascination is a little different, being more of a period piece, like Herzog's Kaspar Hauser, but with striking females. The narrative is foggy to me, at first we're in a barn and they're drinking ox blood, these guys with a bag of coins, a couple women escape?? He goes after her, they're in a house, armed guys attack, the blonde starts sleeping with one of them in the hay, and then stabs him, then with a sickle cuts the throats of 2 guys sitting nearby. That's where i paused it in order to share my thoughts midstream on this film, which compared to the previous film is much more palatable.
Fascination is not in the Collection, but is one of those on the Channel to celebrate Halloween.
