Your typical ghost-hunter will stake out a place, with cameras and other equipment, late at night and in the company of at least one other person. Then, when finally something inconsequential actually, finally happens, they'll run screaming as fast as their legs can go for the nearest exit, and I'm always left wondering, "Umm, isn't this the reason why they came here in the first place?"
