Christmas is a pagan festival. The shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere is 21/22 of December. The druids would measure the days. They lit fires and torches and brought evergreens into their homes to encourage the sun to come back. When the days had definitely got longer - 25 December - they had a big feast to celebrate that the sun was definitely coming back. 🤷 So that's why I guess lol.
