I Cry During Sad Movies
Ikiru - Akira Kurosawa, a must see film if ever there was one. Kurosawa began his career with cringeworthy sentimental features, but really hit his magnificent stride with this dramatic epic about a guy who starts to make a positive difference when he learns of his impending fatality. Ikiru meaning To Live deserves more recognition than his more popular Seven Samurai. And when you see it rightly, you'll be moved. 2 other Japanese masterpieces reduce me to a blubbering heap of tears too Ozu's Late Spring, and Mizoguchi's Ugetsu. If it's the last thing i do here, introducing someone to some of cinema's finest emotional works is something i'm proud and pleased to do.
